Rudy Carmenaty presently serves as the Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Social Service. Before his appointment, Rudy was a Bureau Chief in the Office of the Nassau County Attorney and was the Director of Legal Services for both the Nassau County Department of Social Services and the Nassau County Department of Human Services. His proudest achievement in county government is developing Nassau County’s Language Access Plan and coordinating the plan’s implementation as the Language Access Coordinator for Nassau.
Rudy received his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, and he earned a BA with Honors from Rutgers, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is admitted to the bar of the State of New York and the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. He is President of the Columbia Law School Association, a member of the Nassau County Police Reserves, sits on the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre, and is active in the Cuban American community on Long Island. A member of the American Bar Association, the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, and the New York City Bar Association, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association. He is the Chair of its Diversity & Inclusion Committee and its Publications Committee.
